Your dog can brighten the darkest day. Your dog can be a faithful companion on the journey. Your pet always forgives. Your pet shows you how to forgive and to really live.
This post affirms the grief I have because of recently losing a most Beloved Companion Labrador named Pearl. Pearl taught me that Love is real and makes life worthwhile. I was reminded of how much of life is not real in that we do not take it with us from here. But Love..SO Worthy.
Your precious Pearl pointed you in the direction of the really real--authenticity and Love. What a gift! Isn't that what spiritual directors try to do?
My husband and I have a beautiful cat named Lily. I think God called us to rescue her from the animal shelter. It was love at first sight. What Lily does for us most is to make us laugh and to make us more human. She is very sweet, doesn't scratch, plays with her toys and is very smart.
What is said is so true. Just recently a dog saved a young child in a swimming pool. Pets make us laugh but some of them are great protectors, even risking their own lives. We are blessed with such creatures that remind us of God looking out for us just when we need it most.
This extrovert loves Life including, at times the plenitude of silence! I enjoy my Congregation of St. Joseph Community, family, friends, co-workers, the ideals and energy of young adults, the experience and wisdom of elders, animals, especially, dogs and horses, good conversation, humor, teaching, walking, dancing, swimming, baking, tennis and organizations like the American Teilhard Association and the Sisters of the Earth. It was my privilege to be Thomas Berry's graduate assistant. I have taught Spirituality, organized Sewing Clubs and co-produced Radio Programs in Zambia. Travels have taken me to Ireland, Great Britain, Africa, Italy and Canada. My involvements have included Spiritual Formation, Retreats, Spiritual Direction, and Workshops, along with Ecological, Interfaith, Social Justice and U.N. Activities.
