Prayerful Advice from St. Francis
Peace with our neighbors, peace with animals, peace with the whole Earthcommunity is part of our challenge. It begins with each one of us. The Patron Saint of Ecology reminds us:
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon, where there is doubt, faith,
where there is despair, hope,where there is darkness, light,
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled,
as to console; to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying
that we are born to eternal life.

Why Consider Religion and Science?
Why Consider Religion and Science on Our Journey? We are attracted by Truth, Beauty and Goodness. Religion and Science enlighten and engage us. They complement one another.
"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." Einstein. Science reveals the magnificence and the fine tuning of Earth in the Cosmos. Creation is ongoing. For believers, this points to an intelligent, unfathomable Creator.
Many look forward to related discussions at the Annual Springtime American Teilhard Meeting in NYC. See
www.teilharddechardin.org which explores and builds on the work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, S.J., renowned Jesuit-scientist.

Can Religion and Science Help Us?
"When we consider what religion is for mankind, and what science is, it is not exaggeration to say that the future course of history depends upon the decision of this generation as to the relations between them." (Whitehead, Science and the Modern World)
We Are Interdependent with Our Whole Earth Community
By helping our global sisters and brothers and the Amazon Forests to flourish, we aid ourselves and our children. How can we build a beautiful, healthy future for our children and grandchildren by ignoring the plight of the forest children, the elephant children, the bird children, the fish children, the bee children, etc.? Whatever enhances Earth, enhances us. We can choose, but time is running out.

How Do We Respond to Calls for Help from our Global Sisters & Brothers?
What would we do without lungs?

Andre Rieu - I Will Follow Him
MUSIC/POETRY gets to the "heart of the matter." Whom are you following
for your own life and the life of all Earth's inhabitants? Do they feel like
dancing and "clapping their hands" when they see us humans coming?

André Rieu - You'll Never Walk Alone
We're on the Great Journey together. We are our brother and sister's "keeper" and responsible to care for our nourishing, enchanting Mother Earth.

Lenten Journey: Time to Pray & Do Justice
Our Lenten Journey is a time to Pray and to Do Justice. Our sisters & brothers deserve a "Hand-Up".
This is a matter of fairness for families who work so hard, sometimes doing two or three jobs. How many of us or our elected officials have tried living on the current minimum wage after working 40 or more hours a week during Lent or even a week?

Lenten Journey: Time to Wake Up
Lenten Journey: a time to wake up to Justice issues and act. They are all interrelated. They affect the poor and marginalized the most, whether inhuman conditions, persons on death row and even the planet on death row.
What justice issue (s) arouses you to reflect and to act?
St. Catherine of Siena challenges us: "Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire."
Some examples besides Pope Francis: Rachel Carson, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King, Jr., Dorothy Stang, SND, Wangari Maathai, Nelson Mandela, Thomas Berry, CP, Helen Prejean, CSJ, Malala Yousafzai and others who do not make the headlines.

Papal encyclical on environment in process | National Catholic Reporter
Papal encyclical on environment in process | National Catholic Reporter Congratulations to Pope Francis! May Leaders of other Religions continue their own efforts and join his major effort on this overarching challenge of the 21st century. Some progress has been made. However, the Golden Rule in all religions now needs to encompass more than human neighbors. How hospitable are we? Humans have human rights. Other Earth inhabitants have their own rights. This is a moral challenge. Whom or what do we really value on our Journey to become all that we can be together?
How are we loving our neighbors if we tolerate the diminishment or destruction of what they need for life?
Our children and grandchildren cannot become what they are called to be on an unhealthy planet. A sick planet hurts the poor the most. As children's bodies feed on nourishing food, so their minds feast on beauty. Human children need the "plant children", the "animal children", "Brother Sun", "Sister Moon" and stars, etc.. All give glory to God and are summoned to be part of a harmonious whole. Decisions now shape the future for our children and grandchildren. Will we choose mere surviving (for awhile) or thriving? Death or Life? Indifference or Love? Dishonoring or honoring the loving Creator and Sustainer of all Life?
